What You Will Learn
You will learn the timing and spacing pattern for a water splash resulting from a belly flop. Like the Poof recipe, this is an exercise in growing a splash and then shrinking it, with the secondary action of the droplets flying away in a fan pattern using the speeding up spacing.
Why Is This Important?
Impacts and their consequences are always interesting to animators. In this recipe, we want our audience to feel the pain. The slap of the body on the water has to be amplified by a big splash. This is a fast version, with the droplets disappearing in mid air. Another variation could have the droplets falling back to the surface of the water. No two splashes are alike. Clap your hands for the impact sound. A mouth splash sound could follow.
